RHP Casey McBride earned his 4th "W" of the season hurling five hitless innings and striking out 10 Barons. Chet Nesley, Mike Burke, Doug Lucas, and Rick Parnell balanced out the Sox' hitting attack with 4 knocks each while Aaron Soodek homered deep into the left field bleachers. Red Sox 13 Barons 7 ~ As the regular season schedule comes to a close the Sox finishes it out in style by beating the Barons on Sunday. WP Nate Gergel threw 5 strong innings and RHP Chet Nesley finished it up. The Sox solid defense was led by C Matt Fitzgerald while the offense was powered by 1b Aaron Soodek’s long bomb late to put the game away. The Sox will begin their playoff run Monday July 26th with a 1st round game vs. the Baron at 7:30pm at South Brunswick High.

Red Sox 17 Engineers 11 ~ The Sox clinched the #1 playoff seed and at least a share of the regular season title with a win against a tough Engineers club. As the score indicates, this was a slugfest as the Sox rebounded from last week’s loss with a nice team effort supporting a determined RHP Casey McBride. LF Doug Lucas bashed his 3rd homer of the season while CF Chet Nesley and SS Mike Burke contributed 3 hits each. This was a close contest all the way through until the Sox pulled away in the later innings. RF Travis Watson had 2 excellent AB’s by advancing runners into scoring position in key situations. Engineer’s RHP Shane McCumbee hurled the rock admirably logging all 8 innings in the sweltering

Shockers 8 Red Sox 1 ~ There are no highlights to report from the beat down that Sox received at the hands of the Shockers in this game. Congratulations to the Shockers for a well played game and to RHP Nick Studebaker for pitching 7 near perfect innings for secure the win for his team. The Sox will try to rebound and get back into the win column this Sunday July 11th at 1pm against the Engineers at
Red Sox 7 River Rats 0 ~ The Sox improved to 7-1 with a hard fought win against a very good RiverRats team. Jim Mahoney pitched 8 shutout innings and was supported by outstanding defense led by some smooth leather work my SS Mike Burke. Casey McBride highlighted the Sox’ offense with a 2-run blast and 4 RBI while catcher Matt Fitzgerald contributed 4 hits. Mahoney and #37 combined to pitch the Sox’ 3rd shutout in a row.
Red Sox 14 Shockers 0 ~ With an all around great team performance, the WilSox ran their record to a league best 6-1. Casey McBride, Jim Mahoney, and Doug Lucas combined to pitch the Sox’ 2nd straight shutout. Ten of the twelve Sox players got hits on Sunday; Doug “Babe” Lucas led the way with 3 hits and supplied the power with a long home run to lead off the 6th inning. Chet “Hit-Man” Nesley also contributed his usual 3 hits. Mike Burke, Jim Mahoney, and Aaron Soodek all chipped in with a couple knocks each. Once again, the defense was solid backing up great pitching and a good time was had by all on this scorching
Red Sox 12 Barons 0 ~ The Sox ran their streak of double-digit wins to 3 games in front of a record CMBL crowd of over 60 dueling spectators. Casey McBride dominated the Barons lineup allowing only 2 hits and striking out 13 in 7 innings. The Sox’ defense was flawless as Saturday night was an all around fine performance highlighted by outstanding glove work from Al Ganey, Brian Maready, and the Sox’ catching corps. Chet Nesley and Nick Raynor were table setters at the top of the lineup as Jim Mahoney, Casey McBride, Patrick Hollis, and Travis Watson contributed with RBI producing hits. Big ups to Joe Seme for helping out by playing right field and swiping two bases. The Sox will have a week off for Memorial Day and will resume action on June 6th against the 2nd place Shockers.
Red Sox 14 Braves 2 ~ Aside from the obvious onslaught with the lumber (back to back 14 run games) here is a recap from some of the guys about this week’s win. “Our bats stayed hot and our pitching was great. “We played great defense for the most part” said Matt Fitzgerald. ‘We ran a lot. It was a lot of fun today” said Jim Mahoney. Doug Lucas summed up the Sox lowlight for the day, “Gergel trying to catch a line-drive...with his knee; almost worked. (I hope you’re alright Nate).” The Sox next game is this Saturday 5/22 7:30 at Godwin Stadium versus the Barons.
Red Sox 14 Storm 1 ~ Four games into the season and we've all been waiting for the bat rack to heat up. Today it did, in a BIG way. Chet Nesley led the way with 3 hits. Nick Raynor, Casey McBride, and Aaron Soodek chipped in with 2 hits each. Lefty Jim Mahoney pitched 6 outstanding innings striking out 9 and yielding only 1 unearned run.
Red Sox 5 Mudcats 4 ~ It was a good night for sweet revenge. Lead by the dominant pitching of Casey McBride and his 14 strikeouts; the Sox got even with the pesky Mudcats on a beautiful Wednesday night in
Nathan Gergel shut the door by pitching a perfect 8th and 9th inning allowing the good guys to come back from a 4-1 deficit and win it in the bottom of the 9th.
This is was tight game all the way through with the Mudcats adding a run or two here and there thanks to timely hitting and a leaky Sox defense. The tide finally turned in the 7th inning when the Sox came through with 3 runs to tie it up 4-4. The game remained tied through the 8th when Gergel entered and was backed up by a pair of fantastic defensive plays to keep the game tied. The Mudcats were held in the top of the 9th and that set the stage for the Sox’ late game heroics.
With the bases loaded, Travis Watson belted a screamer up the middle that was too hot to handle allowing the winning run to score. Clutch hitting by Aaron Soodek, Chet Nesley, and Al Ganey highlighted an all-around solid team performance by the Sox.
